1. The MYM Framework: Coaching, Cohorts, and Content

Marathon Youth Ministry is built on a three-part framework—Coaching, Cohorts, and Content—that supports ministry leaders personally, relationally, and practically.

Marathon Youth Ministry is intentionally structured around a simple but integrated framework: Coaching, Cohorts, and Content.

Each part serves a distinct purpose, but they are designed to work together. When leaders engage all three—at the right pace and depth—they experience clarity, sustainability, and growth that lasts.

Content: Practical Tools for Real Ministry

Content refers to the resources you access through M2GO—training kits, videos, downloads, and Ministry Coach.

This pillar exists to support the day-to-day realities of ministry:

  • Training volunteers

  • Preparing meetings

  • Responding to challenges as they arise

  • Creating shared language and direction

M2GO content is designed to be:

  • Ready to use

  • Adaptable to different contexts

  • Grounded in real parish and diocesan experience

Content gives leaders something concrete to work with when time and energy are limited.

Cohorts: Formation in Community

Cohorts create space for leaders to grow alongside others who understand their context.

Through MYM SPRINTS and diocesan cohorts, leaders are invited into:

  • Guided learning around specific themes

  • Honest conversation with peers

  • Accountability and shared reflection

  • A sense of not being alone

Cohorts slow leaders down just enough to help them reflect, integrate, and learn from experience.

Coaching: Personal Formation for the Leader

Coaching focuses on the leader, not just the ministry.

Through MCODE™ assessments and coaching conversations, leaders gain:

  • Clarity around their motivations and energy

  • Insight into how they lead under pressure

  • Tools to make aligned decisions

  • Support during seasons of change or transition

Coaching helps leaders move from reaction to intention.

Why the Framework Matters

Many ministry resources focus on only one layer:

  • Tools without formation

  • Community without direction

  • Reflection without action

The MYM framework holds these together.

  • Content supports action

  • Cohorts support reflection

  • Coaching supports integration

You don’t need all three at once—but knowing how they fit together helps you engage them wisely.

How Most Leaders Engage the Framework

There is no single “right” path, but many leaders experience something like this:

  1. Start with Content to address immediate needs

  2. Enter a Cohort to process and grow with others

  3. Use Coaching for deeper clarity and long-term sustainability

The framework flexes with your season, capacity, and role.

The Long View

Marathon Youth Ministry exists because ministry leadership is not a short-term project. It requires endurance, alignment, and care for the person doing the work.

This framework is designed to support leaders for the long haul.
